Beech trees (Fagus spp.) are a small group of long-lived, deciduous, hardwoods found in the temperate forests of the world.  Fagus sp. has an upright growth habit with an open pyramidal form when young that develops into a rounded canopy with age. They are slow growing and many decades can reach a height of up to 50 metres.
The Copper beech (Fagus sylvatica Purpurea Group) have leaves that are a bright copper colour that turns a deep green by mid-summer.
