Cornus controversa 'Variegata', is a deciduous species of flowering tree in the genus Cornus of the dogwood family. It is typically 8 m tall with multiple, spreading, tiered branches.
This variety has narrowly ovate leaves with bold, creamy, white margins, which turn yellow in autumn, and grows to a lesser size than its parent (C. controversa).
In early summer, tiny, single white flowers are borne in large, flat panicles up to 18 cm across, these followed by globose black fruit that is eaten by birds..
Cornus controversa 'Variegata' has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
